The newly-appointed ICC Chairman Jay Shah held his first meeting at the global cricket body's headquarters in Dubai to discuss the potential hybrid model for the upcoming tournament. According to a report from the Times of India, the meeting lasted for only 20 minutes and there was no conclusion on the Champions Trophy dilemma.
After India refused to send their team to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy due to security concerns and demanded a hybrid model, the Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB threatened to boycott the tournament. Pakistan reportedly agreed to a hybrid model with full hosting rights after last week's meeting but asked ICC to apply the same rules for the global cricket tournament in India.

Meanwhile, Jay Shah, the youngest chairman in the game's history, met with the ICC members and staff in Dubai and also promised to take cricket to 'unprecedented heights' in his tenure.
“This visit provided an invaluable opportunity to connect with my colleagues on the ICC Board where we discussed the initial roadmap and strategies to shape the future of this incredible sport,” Jay Shah told the ICC website. "I was equally delighted to meet with the dedicated ICC team working tirelessly behind the scenes to propel cricket forward.
“While I am encouraged by what I have seen, I recognize that this is just the beginning. The hard work to elevate cricket to unprecedented heights starts now, and I am confident that together, we will deliver on this vision." The ninth edition of the Men's Champions Trophy will begin on February 19 and the final is scheduled to take place on March 9.
