UP: 12 dead, 16 injured as bus collides with mini truck in Hathras, PM announces ex gratia

The injured were rushed to the district hospital. As per information, the many injured are in serious condition and the death count is likely to rise further. Soon after getting the information, the Hathras District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police reached the hospital. 

Providing information about the accident, Hathras District Magistrate Ashish Kumar said, "The accident took place while one vehicle was trying to overtake another vehicle. Till now, 12 people have lost their lives, while 16 others are injured."

Meanwhile, Hathras SP Nipun Agarwal said that they are identifying the deceased and those responsible for the accident. He said, "We are trying to identify those who lost their lives, and those who is responsible for this incident will not be spared... Four children are among those who lost their lives in the incident." 

PM Modi announces ex gratia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the accident. In a post on X, PMO India said, "The road accident in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh is extremely painful. My deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this. May God give them strength in this difficult time. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of the people injured in the accident. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in helping the victims in every possible way."

Moreover, the PM also announced ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Hathras, UP. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.

President condoles deaths

President Droupadi Murmu consoled the deaths in the tragic accident. She said, "The news of the death of several people in a road accident in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh is extremely sad. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured."
