Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday questioned the conduct of the Mumbai police in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case by faulting the Mumbai police probe in it.
Raut in his column ‘Rok Thok’ in the party mouth piece ‘Saamana’ wrote, “ The Mumbai police dragged the probe longer then it should have been. Celebrities from the entertainment world were being called everyday for interrogation and this led to a lot of gossip. It needs to be verified whether this party was used for creating terror among the entertainment industry.”
The Sena MP also faulted the police in not engaging with the media enough. “ As soon as the police realised that the probe ..
The Sena MP also faulted the police in not engaging with the media enough. “ As soon as the police realised that the probe is high profile the police should have interacted with the media and given out details of the investigation. The cops should have said that if there was any (involvement) of a political person or minister then his statement would also be taken.”wrote the MP.
Later in the day as questions began mounting on whether the Sena MP himself was questioning the manner in which the police had probed the case made amends. Addressing reporters, Raut said, “The Mumbai police is a very capable organisation it has always been compared to the Scotland yard. Even the Supreme Court in its orders issued earlier in several cases has favoured the Mumbai police while investigating any case.”said the Sena MP.
His clarification apart Raut’s column shows how the Sena leadership is not happy with how the Mumbai police handled the probe in the Sushant case. “They should have been more open about their probe. An unnecessary suspense was created. Not just police the BMC also is to be blamed as they should not have put the Bihar IPS officer Vinay Tiwari under quarantine when he came to Mumbai. It made it as if we have thing to hide.”said a Sena leader.
The BJP has however latched on to the column written by Raut. “ It is interesting that in his column Raut is also mentioning about some party taking place in a actor’s house before Sushant’s death. There have been no details about the party as such from the Mumbai police. So this needs to be probed.” Said BJP MLA Atul Bhatkalkar. The latter had written to the Home Minister Amit Shah almost two weeks back seeking a CBI probe in the death of actor Sushant Singh claiming that a young Minister in that a young Minister in the Thackeray government was scuttling the probe.
