Investigation and arrests
A case was registered at the Seelampur Police Station under relevant sections, and an investigation was initiated. Given the severity of the crime, the Operations Wing and local police teams joined forces to crack the case. Multiple teams were set up to trace and apprehend the suspects involved in the murder.
After analyzing various sources of evidence, the police identified the suspects and started raiding multiple locations. Zikra, a 19-year-old woman from Seelampur, was arrested on April 18, 2025. The police then continued their investigation, which led to the arrest of several other individuals, including Sahil, Sohaib, Nafish, Aneesh, Zahida, Vikas, and two juveniles. The accused were arrested in Delhi, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and other parts of Uttar Pradesh.
Revenge motive behind the murder
During the investigation, police discovered that the murder was planned as an act of revenge. Zikra, who allegedly had an old rivalry with Kunal, orchestrated the brutal stabbing. The motive stemmed from an attack on her cousin in November 2024, which she believed was orchestrated by Kunal's friends, Lala and Shambhu. Although Kunal was present during the incident, he had not been named in the FIR as he was a minor at the time.
Convinced that Kunal was behind the attack on her cousin, Zikra plotted to take revenge. Before carrying out the murder, Zikra allegedly used a group of minor boys to keep watch on Kunal's movements. On the evening of April 17, after confirming that Kunal was leaving GTB Hospital, Zikra and her gang ambushed him. Two of the suspects attacked Kunal with knives, fatally stabbing him. Zikra was reportedly present during the incident, although she did not directly participate in the stabbing.
Role of minors and gangs
The police have revealed that Zikra had formed a gang of 8 to 10 minor boys, whom she used to assert her dominance and instill fear in the local area. She had a notorious reputation and was frequently seen with her gang, often carrying weapons. Authorities are investigating the role of these minors in the murder and the overall activities of the gang.
Ongoing Investigation
The investigation is ongoing, and police are continuing efforts to recover the weapons used in the crime. The involvement of the two juveniles in the attack is also being scrutinized, with authorities taking steps to ensure justice is served.
In a statement, the Delhi Police assured that all those responsible for this heinous crime will be held accountable. They also emphasized their commitment to addressing the rising influence of gangs and criminal activities in the area. Further updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
This case highlights the increasing use of minors in criminal activities and the need for stricter enforcement of laws to protect vulnerable individuals from being exploited by gangs.
Further investigations are underway in the case, with police continuing their efforts to recover weapons used in the crime.
