Mayawati accepts nephew Akash Anand's apology, takes him back into BSP

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati responded to nephew Akash Anand's public apology and took her back in the party. However, she has clarified that she won't announce any successor and firmly stays with her previous decision. Former BSP leader Akash Anand on Sunday apologised to the party supremo and requested her to take him back in the party.

In a series of posts on X, Anand said Mayawati is his only ideal and guru. He further assured that he wouldn't let his relations, especially ones with his in-laws, become an obstacle in the interest of the party. Anand asked for forgiveness for his past mistakes and tweets. Reportedly, Anand was expelled from the party due to his tweets against the party.

Mayawati accepts Anand's apology

In a series of posts on X, she said, "The decision to give another chance to Shri Akash Anand in view of his publicly admitting his mistakes in his four posts today on x and giving full respect to the seniors and not giving in to his father-in-law's words and dedicating his life to the BSP party and movement."

She further added, "Well, I am healthy now and as long as I am healthy, like honourable Shri Kanshi Ram ji, I will continue to work for the party and the movement with full dedication and commitment. In such a situation, there is no question of appointing someone as my successor. I am firm on my decision and will remain so."

Akash Anand apologises to Mayawati

"I consider the national president of BSP, four-time chief minister of UP and many-time Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, respected Behen ji Ms. Mayawati, as my only political guru and ideal. Today, I take this pledge that for the benefit of the Bahujan Samaj Party, I will not let my relations, and especially my in-laws, become an obstacle," Akash said.

Before expelling Akash from the party, BSP chief removed him from all party posts and appointed his father Anand Kumar national coordinator in his place. On March 3, 2025, Mayawati expelled Akash from the party and said his response to her action against him was "selfish and arrogant."

Today, on April 13, Akash Anand took a U-turn and urged to get back in the party.

"Not only this, I also apologise for my tweet made a few days ago, due to which respected Behen ji has expelled me from the party. From now on, I will ensure that I do not take any advice from any relative or advisor regarding any of my political decisions. I appeal to respected Behen ji to forgive all my mistakes and give me a chance to work in the party again — for this, I will always be grateful to her. Also, I will not make any such mistake in the future that hurts the self-respect and self-esteem of the party and respected Behen ji," he said in a post on X.
