Mumbai: In a shameful incident, a 38-year-old man allegedly raped a 4-year-old girl in Nagpada area of Mumbai on Wednesday. Police have now arrested the accused.
The rape survivor’s mother alleged that the wife of the accused, the house owner and another woman tried to cover up the matter and demanded their arrest.
However, police said they did not find any involvement of the three women in the crime during the investigation.
According to a report in Indian Express, the crime took place when the victim’s mother left the house for work in the morning. She had asked a woman, whose house she rents, to look after her daughter.
The woman in her statement told police said that when she returned home after three hours to check on her daughter, she found her sleeping.
“When I woke her up and asked whether she had eaten, the girl informed me that her private parts are paining and that an uncle who lives next door did dirty things to her,” the woman stated in her police complaint.
Later, the woman called her family members and contacted Nagpada police. The accused was arrested and the victim was sent for medical examination at JJ Hospital which confirmed rape.
